This modernist, classical-style town hall, designed in 1837-42 by PD Hepworth, features a grey stone plain exterior with giant columned entrance, large circular pond and fountain. The interior is of Art Deco design with high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows and original 1930s fittings throughout the building. The main hall has a proscenium arch stage, balcony, fixed seating, a capacity of 1000 and excellent acoustics. The building also features the council office, long corridors, a wood-panelled Council Chamber and a large 1930s wood-panelled boardroom. Other areas available for filming include a bar, kitchen, green rooms.
