Designed in 1934-37 by Lanchester and Lodge; Hackney Town Hall is a three-storey building with a Portland stone facade and exterior balcony, set back behind a public square. Marbled interior with original 1930s fittings and Art Deco lights. Staircase leads to the first-floor wood panelled Council Chamber and Committee Rooms, with imposing chandeliers. The original Assembly Hall has its own private entrance with two beautiful curved staircases leading to it. . After a recent multi-million pound refurbishment the original 1930s building has been brought into the 21st century and now features two state of the art glass roofed atriums.
