Shoreditch Town Hall was designed in 1866 by Caesar Augustus Long as the Shoreditch Vestry Hall. It was extended and enlarged in1902 and 1938. It has a very large and ornate assembly hall, with a barrel-vaulted ceiling, upper gallery and gilded decorations. There is the former Council Chamber, another large hall, and the original tiled grand entrance hall, as well as a number of smaller rooms, staircases, corridors and a derelict basement.
