The woods are at least 8,000 years old and a site of Special Scientific Interest, with a rich mixture of trees and shrubs. In Castlewood stands Severndroog Castle built in 1784, please see separate entry. Jackwood contains a terraced garden. Oxleas Wood has a fascinating network of paths and tracks, a cross country course and an orienteering course through oak, silver birch, hornbeam and coppice hazel. There is a park cafe in Oxleas Wood.
