Dennis Severs House
United Kingdom / London, England
Location ID: #10138064
On a cobblestone street in Spitalfields, this extraordinary Georgian house was built in 1724. Visitors are immersed in the past, as in a "still life drama". The house is modelled after the lifestyle of a prosperous silk merchant in Georgian England. Rooms range from early Georgian to Victorian. The house is set up as if, when you enter a room, the residents have just departed it. The rooms are lit by fire and candlelight. There is no electricity in the main rooms. There is, however, electricity in a small office (Mick's) in the basement. The rooms are on the whole small, but the location has accommodated filming television drama. It has also been used for still shoots and pop videos.
