Thames Barrier Park
United Kingdom / London, England
Location ID: #10138723
Thames Barrier Park is London's newest riverside park in over 50 years. It is a 22 acre (8.9 hectare) green space set in a riverside location with excellent views across the Thames and Thames Flood Barrier. The park features a unique Anglo/French landscape design, the Green Dock, a sunken garden of scented flowers and coloured bushes, reflecting the theme of Docks and Water, Fountain Plaza and Wildflower Meadows. The coffee shop in a pavilion building has floor to ceiling glazed windows with panoramic views of the park while the Pavilion of Remembrance consists of 23 irregularly spaced steel columns supporting a slatted timber roof with a large circular hole. The park is one of the most beautiful and innovative in East London. Visitors are greeted at the entrance by a show of fountains, which lead to the Green Dock. The park extends via wild flower fields and pretty walkways to the River Thames, with magnificent views of the Thames Barrier.
