Carew Manor Dovecote
United Kingdom / Beddington, England
Location ID: #10138784
Dates from the early 18th century. It originally contained about 1,360 nesting boxes built in to the inner face of the wall, giving it a complex honeycomb like structure. The birds came and went through the wooden turret at the apex of the roof. The large rotating ladder was used by the keepers. The dovecote is exceptionally large. The nesting boxes have now been bricked up. The ground floor houses a museum.
