Chartered Accountants' Hall

United Kingdom / London, England
Location ID: #10139086

There are 15 function rooms within the building, which is a masterpiece of Victorian Baroque. The majority of the rooms are located within the original 1890 buliding designed by John Belcher; others are located in the 1970 extension designed by Sir William Whitfield. The building is designed in the style of the Italian Renaissance with classical features both internally and externally. The Great Hall provides spacious air-conditioned accommodation, featuring works of art, including two glass engravings by David Kindersley, a tapestry designed by Eduardo Paolozzi and three John Piper paintings. The Great Hall's refurbishment in 2001 included the installation of a unique, state-of-the-art split screen system; the only one of its kind in London. The Members' Room used to be a library and contains a balustrade bridge bearing a resemblance to the Rialto in Venice, enhanced by a pair of Venetian style processional lanterns. The galleries are supported by square cedar wood columns. The restaurant is Art Deco in design and has a bar.
