The area of Butler's Wharf is adjacent to Tower Bridge, on the south side of the Thames. It was built as a shipping wharf and warehouse complex in Victorian times and in recent years has been transformed into an area of luxury apartments, restaurants and shops. Footbridges link the former warehouse buildings. Streets include the picturesque Shad Thames (please see separate entry). The riverside walk opens into an esplanade, potted with plant and furnished with ship's chains, propellers and anchors
