Location ID: #10140631
Private school in a Grade II listed red-brick Victorian building, set in four acres of grounds. The school was designed by Sir Arthur Blomfield, has a quadrangle, cloisters, chapel, library, dining room and Great Hall and is modelled upon the Cambridge colleges. A spiral staircase leads to the top of the tower, giving excellent views of East London. Additional buildings were completed throughout the 20th Century including the Science Block (1910), a new Assembly Hall (1937), the Adams Building (1964) and a new Gymnasium Block (1975). The three-storey Courtyard Building was completed in 2006, providing a new school kitchen, a servery, teaching areas and a sixth form centre. And a new sports facility housing a large multi-purpose hall, a modern fitness suite, changing rooms and offices was finished in 2007. The old Gymnasium Block has recently been converted into a Drama Centre. Features in the grounds include a cricket pitch, a war memorial and wrought iron gates.
