Hampstead Garden Suburb is a masterpiece of early 20th Century domestic architecture and town planning. Houses were designed to harmonise with each other and are grouped around greens, quadrangles and closes. Features such as chimneys, dormer windows and bays were designed to add individuality. The masterplan was prepared by Barry Parker and Sir Raymond Unwin and Central Square was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, including its two large churches, St Jude's Church and The Free Church.
