St Pancras London

United Kingdom / London, England
Location ID: #10141230

The original building, the Midland Grand Hotel, was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott and opened in 1873. It re-opened as the St Pancras London in May 2011. The stunning redbrick building with its magnificent interior has been painstakingly restored. Many original areas have been carefully renovated including the Ladies Smoking Room. The sweeping forecourt provides a fitting entrance to the hotel with its gold-leaf ceilings, ornate wall murals, spectacular grand staircase (with windows measuring over 50 feet, wrought iron balustrading and crowned by an elaborately vaulted ceiling). The 245-room hotel consists of the historic St Pancras Chambers, housing elegant and spacious Victorian bedroom suites, and Barlow House, a newly created 120,000 square foot extension, featuring original artwork and contemporary design. Booking Office 1869 have been recreated in the original booking office, renovated in 2021 and designed to honour a space where ‘Old world European charm meets the dry wit of London’. The Gilbert Scott Restaurant occupies the original entrance hall and coffee room. The hotel also features a 575-capacity event hall, a private club, a barber's shop, a luxury spa including a swimming pool and treatment rooms. The location is an unique twist of classic and contemporary. The high ceilings and dramatic, draping windows allow a flood of light throughout the building allowing it to feel airy and bright. The Gothic Revival architecture allows a rich Victorian feel too.
