The Ampersand Hotel is a South Kensington boutique hotel whose 111 rooms and suites are inspired by the local London neighbourhood, referencing five central concepts - botany, music, geometry, ornithology and astronomy. Tucked beneath the Victorian cellar arches of the hotel is the Apero restaurant, with cool white metro tiles and exposed brick walls. The bar contains leather banquettes. The Drawing Rooms are a mixture of the English drawing room and the French "salon de the", with deep sofas and studded armchairs. A fire burns in the hearth at one end of the room, and by day, sunshine pours in via the large Victorian windows. In the brick vaults is also The Wine Room. Its elegant ambience is defined by its polished basalt floor, oak banqueting table, and leather-bound chairs. It showcases the hotel's red wine collection in an imposing floor-to-ceiling display that dominates an entire wall.
