Arcelor Mittal Orbit (QEOP)

United Kingdom / London, England
Location ID: #10141554

The Arcelor Mittal Orbit is a 114.5m tall sculpture designed by Anish Kapoor and Cecil Balmond, situated in the east of London, within the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, giving fantastic views of London and the park. This unique art sculpture is bright red and the tallest sculpture in the UK. There are two external viewing platforms, accessible by lift, and a winding external staircase. A red lattice tube encircles the sculpture and there is a giant steel canopy at the base. There are two concave mirrors 7.13m by 2.18m and 7.34m and 2.18m, which reflect the skyline upside down. An ocular in the centre of both platforms gives a view down towards the middle of the sculpture. The sculpture is dark at the bottom, but becoming lighter and bigger as you ascend.
