The Almeida is a Grade II listed building with beautiful 19th Century features, housing a 325-seat auditorium divided over two levels. Original curved back wall. The auditorium is normally blacked out for performance but it can be transformed to a brighter space using the 19th Century shutters from the building's former life as a reading room and medical institute. Spiral staircase dating back to the early 20th Century. Light and airy with a tall glass ceiling, the contemporary foyer links the auditorium to the theatre bar. The two spaces are cleverly designed to work as one L-shaped room or separated off leaving the bar as an intimate yet airy space. The backstage area provides a fully functioning green room and five dressing rooms.
