St Pancras and Islington Cemetery

The Grade II designated St Pancras and Islington Cemetery is made up of two cemeteries. Established in 1854 the cemetery is bordered by woodland to the south and there is a pair of Gothic gatehouses with railings to the north. The cemetery features several chapels, including the Grade II Victorian St Pancras Burial Chapel. The Grade II listed Mond Mausoleum was built in the Grecian style (based on the Temple of Nemesis) in granite and Portland stone, with a pediment supported by two fluted Ionic columns.The cemetery has a war graves plot containing over 100 graves from both World Wars. The large Art Deco crematorium was built by Albert Freeman in 1937 and its chapel has Art Deco detailing and a distinctive glass dome.
