Islington Town Hall was built in two phases from 1922 to 1925 and is Grade II listed. The frontage has a temple facade made of Portland stone and there is a balcony overlooking the street. There are a number of wood-panelled meeting rooms, an octagonal council chamber, a domed committee room corridor, grand marble staircases and hallways. The marble entrance hall is double height and its grand staircase leads to an upper gallery. The Council Chamber and committee rooms have elaborate ceilings, carved oak panelling and red upholstery.
The Assembly Hall dates from 1929. It has a grand auditorium and retains most of its original Art Deco interior, including the stage. There is a side entrance to the Town Hall on a quiet street, offering another period setting. The front of the Town Hall is set back from Upper Street allowing for a service road and small car park.
