West India Dock Entrance Lock

This lock is the entrance to South Dock on the Isle of Dogs.The lock has huge gates which are operated to allow boats, barges and ships into the docks. On the south side of the lock there is a Scouts centre and several large historic boats moored in Dollar Bay. On the north side there is a small 1930s mess building and three historic cranes. There are views of the Canary Wharf estate to the west and North Greenwich to the east. Vehicle access to the lock is via gates on Harbour Quay and Manchester Road.
