Designed to resemble an Italianate Villa by George Aitchison in 1865 as the home and studio of Frederic, Lord Leighton. This sumptuous interiors contain a fascinating collection of paintings and sculptures by Leighton and his contemporaries including John Everett Millais, Edward Burne-Jones and George Frederick Watts. The Arab Hall, which is an imitation of the 12th Century Muslim Palace of La Zisa at Palermo, was added 12 years later. Its features include a golden dome, intricate mosaics and Saracenic tiles. The vast painting studio is lit by a great north window.
