Richmond Park, at almost 1000 hectares (2,500 acres), is the largest Royal Park in London and is home to 650 free-roaming deer. It is a pastoral landscape of hills, woodlands, ponds, gardens and grasslands set amongst ancient trees. Pembroke Lodge Gardens is home to King Henry's Mound, with its famous view to St Paul's Cathedral. The park is designated as a National Nature Reserve, a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Area of Conservation. There are playgrounds, two 18-hole public golf courses, Pen Ponds, horse riding tracks and a 12km cycle path. Pembroke Lodge restaurant is situated in a Georgian mansion with spectacular views and garden seating. Holly Lodge is a brick-built 17th Century farmhouse style building with interesting outbuildings, old stables and a green oak barn.
