Bishopsgate Institute

United Kingdom / London, England
Location ID: #10165239

Bishopsgate Institute is a convenient and flexible location for filming and photography. The Grade II* listed building showcases Victorian features, including those of the Art Nouveau and Arts & Crafts movements. The Great Hall, though modernised for accessibility and technical capabilities, retains its original parquet flooring, high ceilings, intricate plaster mouldings, and stage. The Library boasts dark wood panelling, stained-glass cupola, original lighting fixtures, and thousands of beautiful books. The Institute's original wood-panelled Boardroom, additional hall, dance studios, classrooms, and discreet outdoor courtyard space can also accommodate shoots. Interior features include original Victorian tiling along staircases and corridors, Arts & Crafts friezes, and mosaic floors. The building has a terracotta facade covered with stylised leafy trees, is topped by two turrets and a steep roof, and has an arched entrance with a golden sun symbol. There are spaces available for production offices, storage, catering, break rooms, and changing rooms. Access to the Special Collections and Archives can be arranged on a case-to-case basis, as can hire of the Model D Steinway in the Great Hall.
