Dr Johnson's House

United Kingdom / London, England
Location ID: #10279000

Dr Johnson's House is a Grade I listed Georgian townhouse, tucked away just off Fleet Street in the heart of London. This remarkably preserved time capsule from the Age of Enlightenment offers an authentic period backdrop for film and photo shoots, as well as talent interviews.
With its original 17th-century features and storied history, every corner of the property exudes character. An original oak staircase runs up the centre of the four-storey house. Period features include historic panelling, wooden floorboards, a cellarette cupboard, coal holes and even the original door handles.
Its location in a quiet square – removed from busy roads and traffic – ensures minimal noise interference for superior sound recording.
With the exception of No. 1 and Dr Johnson's house, the properties in the square were rebuilt in reproduction Georgian style after World War II. There are gas lamps, a flint brick roadway and York stone pavements.
