Description:
Tower Bridge is one of the world's most famous bridges and an iconic symbol of London. Filming opportunities are available both outside and inside the bridge. Inside the Bridge there are a variety of spaces. 1. The Walkways: The high-level East and West Walkways, 43m above the Thames provide some of the most breath-taking panoramic views of London. Each Walkway measures 3 x 63m. and is covered by glass. The Walkways form part of the Tower Bridge Exhibition. The views are wonderful but are slightly inhibited by the criss-cross metal work that surrounds the Walkways. The Walkways are like long corridors with long, wide windows along both sides and are light and airy. Can double as an elegant bar, modern office, a restaurant, an apartment. 2. Level 5: Level 5 in the North Tower has balconies on all four sides of the tower which provide views up and down the river and over London to the North and South. The balconies are small, measuring approximately 1m x 2, and are open air, therefore the views, including excellent views of the Tower of London, are totally un-obscured. These areas are not open to the public and therefore access restrictions apply. Level 5 itself is a large loft type room which has an industrial as well as ecclesiastical feel to it, and also has a trapdoor in the wooden floor which leads down into Level 4. Access to Level 5 is via a spiral staircase which is quite tight, and therefore may restrict the use of certain large equipment. Can double as a loft room, church spire, Victorian study. 3. The Engine Rooms: The Engine Rooms house the original Victorian steam engines which were used to raise the Bridge until 1976. The Engine Rooms form part of the Tower Bridge Exhibition. The Engine Rooms contain original machinery and tools as well as the sounds of steam powered engines. Can double as an old factory. 5. The Bridge Master's Dining Rooms: The Bridge Master's Dining Room is high up in the South Abutment Tower, overlooking the Bridge and is accessed via a secret wooden door on the bridge and then an unusual narrow staircase or a very small 2-person double gated lift. It comprises of a series of rooms completely renovated on traditional Victorian style. Could double an apartment. 6. Dead Man's Hole: Dead Man's Hole is located in an arch under the North East side of the Bridge. The actual location is a small area under the Bridge which has about 10 steps leading directly into the Thames. The area is cold, dark and damp and offers an unobscured view of the Thames at river level. Filming times are dependent on the height of the tide. Tower Bridge is unique - a visit to the bridge is required to truly appreciate the eclectic mix of features. The inside of Tower Bridge offers a myriad of opportunities and can be set up as the inside of any Victorian building or modern setting.
