Description:Lavish Victorian opera house designed in 1858 by EM Barry with four-tiered curved auditorium seating 2,096, with boxes. The auditorium is decorated in red and gold with a red stage curtain. A grand staircase leads from the foyer to the first-floor Grand Tier furnished with chandeliers, decorative plasterwork and statues. The Opera House has recently been redeveloped incorporating the Floral Hall, with a new 450-seat Linbury Studio Theatre, a new passageway between the piazza and Bow Street and contemporary spaces such as an ultra modern bar. There are fantastic views over the Covent Garden piazza and of the London skyline.
