Description:Covering 74 hectares (183 acres), Greenwich is the oldest enclosed Royal Park and home to a small herd of fallow and red deer. Situated on a hilltop overlooking London, between Blackheath and the Thames, there are sweeping panoramic views of The Queen's House and across the river to St Paul's Cathedral. The park is part of the Greenwich World Heritage Site, host to the Prime Meridian Line and the Royal Observatory as well as having the National Maritime Museum as a neighbour. The park has a fine collection of mature trees including many sweet chestnuts. There are a bandstand, Roman ruins, tea pavilion, cafes, children's boating pond, children's playground, a herb garden, formal gardens, historic avenues of trees, a sports pavilion, tennis courts, putting green, rugby football pitch, cricket pitch and hockey pitch.
