Description:Guildhall is the headquarters of the Corporation of London. The west crypt which dates from the late 13th century has been restored. The Great Hall's walls measure 152ft by 49ft and in places the stonework still bears faint traces of paint and gilding. The roof is oak panelled, stone arches are spread throughout the building. Immediately beneath Guildhall is the largest medieval crypt in London. The west crypt has one of the finest vaults in London resting upon four pairs of stone columns and with its nineteen stained glass windows. The east half is 15th century and is divided into twleve bays by six clustered pillars of marble. Other stone work is ragstone and reigate with chalk infilling. There is also the old library founded in 1420s and the precinct completed in 1974. Guildhall Art Gallery: established in 1885 to provide public access to paintings and sculpture from the 17th Century onwards. Burnt down in 1941 the original building was replaced by a temporary structure. The present building was commenced in 1987 to a design by Richard Gilbert Scott. The carpet tiles in the Great Hall can be removed (at the film makers' cost) to expose the tiled floor. Unit base The Guildhall Yard can be used for parking of technical vehicles at weekends (again subject to other activities).
