Description:
Historic street in Enfield running alongside the New River. Preserved by Enclosure Act, the houses face Chase Green with the row separating many of them from their front gardens. Georgian buildings include the Registry Office with its three bay wings and a false balcony above the Ionic doorway. The row continues, separating the houses from their front gardens. Georgian features were often added onto older buildings; stucco fronts, iron gates, etc. After the Coach House, the row has a series of pretty early 19th Century cottages and a pretty iron footbridge. The stuccoed 19th Century Coach and Horses pub sits on the bend in the river. The path emerges onto Chase Side which has small weatherboarded cottages and villas.
