Description:There are over 25 ponds on Hampstead Heath. The Highgate Ponds were originally dug in the 17th and 18th Centuries. These include two single-sex swimming pools (the men's and ladies' bathing ponds), a model boating pond, a wildlife reserve pond and a fishing lake. In the south-west corner of the Heath, are the Hampstead Ponds, one of which is the "mixed pond".
