Description:St Mary the Virgin is the only Grade I listed building in the London borough of Redbridge. A fine example of a small Georgian church with many original features including oak box pews, sitting in a large picturesque churchyard surrounded on three sides by Parkland Golf Club and other sports clubs. The church was designed by Thomas Hardwick and built in 1790. Columned portico entrance with large oak main entrance doors. Galleried on three sides. There is a large Baroque monument to Sir Josiah Child. Elegant tower. Large wooded graveyard and several interesting monuments in churchyard.
