Description:The Roundhouse is a converted railway shed which underwent a £30m refurbishment. The central area has a Main Space and a Circle Area. It has had a new three-storey glass wing built onto the side of the large stone round building, which contains two bars and a cafe as well as all public facilities and access routes. Open plan bridges link the old space to the new space. The main space has 24 original iron pillars holding up the roof. It also has a large window in the centre of the roof as well as a line of windows running around the circumference. Outside the main space is a large sonte central staircase which is a focal point of the wing. There are lots of small curved brick internal corridors in the studios area and the area underneath the main space is a warren of dark and cold corridors and rooms which feed into a central area which is full of mysteries. There are also smaller ancillary spaces available. The entrance up to the front of the building has wide steps. There is a statue, YOU, by Anthony Gormley on the top of the new wing and there are a terrace and small car park behind the building.
