Description:Tate Britain is the national gallery of British art from 1500 to the present day, the Tudors to the Turner Prize. Tate holds the greatest collection of British art in the world, including works by Blake, Constable, Epstein, Gainsborough, Gilbert and George, Hirst, Hockney, Hodgkin, Hogarth, Moore, Rossetti, Sickert and Turner. Tate Britain shows British art in a dynamic series of thematic special displays and exhibitions. Historic and modern works hang together in challenging juxtaposition. The new Manton West wing is modern with shiny, cream marble floors, has spanking new, sparkling look & has lots of ceiling spotlights; the sweeping staircase is a lovely feature, there is also an unusually tall lift (20ft high). Level 1 includes the Turnbull test tube sculpture at the top of the stairs. The lower ground floor houses the Tate cafe. The restaurant has a Whistler mural. Five galleries of copyright free art work. Curators' enclosed garden with central tree; also gardens at north east and south west corners of the building. Unit base adjacent that backs onto an empty storage building. Big enough to accommodate several trucks and crew cars.
