Description:Barking Town Hall is an iconic red-brick building and landmark in the heart of Barking. The 1930s Art Deco style town hall (which was built in the 1950s) features Council Chambers, large committee rooms, basement (used as a bomb shelter during the Blitz), open office spaces, and a large reception and first floor concourse area. There is an imposing four-faced clock tower. Many of the building’s original features and fittings remain, including Georgian-style sash windows. The gates to the main entrance are made from ancient oak salvaged from a 16th Century manor house. The main foyer area contains marble-faced columns and a floor of terrazzo tiles. The Council Chamber, its anteroom and the Mayor's Parlour are all wood-panelled. Unit base parking and production offices available on site. Great for embassies, court rooms and institutional settings.
