Description:
Brownfield council estate was designed by Erno Goldfinger in the brutalist style. There are three main towers - the 27-storey Balfron Tower, which is a shorter sister to the famous Trellick Tower, the 11-storey Carradale House and the 14-storey Glenkerry House. All three buildings are part of the Balfron Tower Conservation Area and are Grade II listed. Balfron Tower is 84m high and contains 146 apartments; lifts serve all entry floors (every third floor). The lift shaft sits in a separate service tower, joined to the residential tower by seven walkways.
