Description:This Grade II listed park was landscaped in the 1700s as the parkland for Wanstead House. There are woods, a nature reserve, grassland, lakes and ponds, a folly and a grotto, and a refreshment kiosk. There are lots of herons in the lake and squirrels in the woods. The Grotto, now in ruins, was built as a boathouse and decorated with mirrors and shells. Please see the separate entry for The Temple. The park has wide grassy tracks, a central open area, paths through the woods, and a wide, grassy glade with rhododendrons on both sides leading down to the water. Wanstead Park is managed by the City of London
