Description:The Baltic Exchange has been the heart of global shipping for 250 years and the building reflects this. The centrepiece of the Baltic Exchange is its imposing Board Room. Panelled with now unobtainable Cuban mahogany throughout, the room also contains a mahogany board table which seats 24, wrought iron and crystal chandeliers, a carved marble fireplace, stained glass windows and a chimney breast panelled with deep, lime-carved drops and swags showing fruits, a windmill and a sailing ship. Other rooms are a mixture of lavish 1920s Grade II listed rooms and modern meeting rooms. There are four long atmospheric corridors, a modern private members' bar, a 1920s lobby, an internal pillared balcony looking down on this lobby, a grand entrance with flagpoles, and other interesting 1920s architectural features. Some of the rooms have views overlooking 30 St Mary Axe.
