Description:
The early 18th Century Queen Anne revival style property was the home of Sigmund Freud and family when they came to England in 1938. The centrepiece is Freud's Study, which has been preserved just as it was during his lifetime, including his couch. The room is a time capsule of fin de siecle Vienna with its mysterious cabinet of curiosities. The house also contains Freud's library and collection of antiquities, and items owned by Anna Freud who lived there for 44 years. The building has six rooms, plus landings and an extensive research centre. The garden is also much the same as it was in Freud's time and the loggia, designed by Freud's son Ernst, has been glazed to house the museum shop.
