Description:The Northumberland is a newly refurbished historic venue, 100 yards from Trafalgar Square. It offers two stunning ballrooms and 11 smaller meeting rooms to accommodate from two to 1,000 people. A Grade II listed building, it was built as a grand Victorian hotel in the 1880s. The facade is faced in Portland stone and is decorated in an Italianate Cinquecento style with a French mansard roof and ornamental iron balconies. Boyd's Bar and Brasserie used to be the Marble Hall of the Victorian hotel and its walls are lined with alabaster, with bands of reddish Bardiglio marble. The Ballroom is one of the grandest Victorian interiors remaining in London with rich ornament in an Italianate Cinquecento style: reclining figures in the spandrels; Corinthian semi-columns; original painted glass windows.
