Description:Grahame Park, located on the site of the old Hendon Aerodrome, is Barnet's largest housing estate. Most of its buildings, walkways and roads have names linked to the site's aviation history. The 1,777 homes were built in the 1970s by the GLC and there was a regeneration process in the 1980s. A typical characteristic of the estate is the plain, square, brick-style terraced houses and long winding low-rise flats, with flat roofs. In the 1980s the blocks of flats were split into smaller blocks and arched roofs were added to many of the buildings. A subsequent regeneration process is currently underway, including a new children's centre and the remodelling of the ponds to provide accessible water edge decks, as well as the construction of new houses and flats.
