Description:Churchill Gardens comprises of approximately 1,800 properties in a mixture of low- and high-rise blocks, six of which have Grade II listing. The estate was designated a conservation area in 2000. Designed by the architects Powell and Moya and built between 1950 and 1961, the estate was designed to look like ships at berth and overlooks the Thames. It was designated a conservation area in 2000. There are many landscaped grass areas, six large sports play areas, a large community hall and youth centre and a state of the art district boiler house. The youth centre comprises a large hall, kitchen and side offices. The hall is on two levels and has a stage area, rehearsal area, large kitchen and two lounge bars. The upper floor comprises loos and two large rooms. The estate extends along the Thames embankment, with backdrops of central London including Battersea Power Station, the Houses of Parliament and the London Eye.
