Description:Mitcham Common is divided into a number of sub-sites; the largest of which is the Seven Islands Pond Area which contains the common's largest pond. There is also the One Island Pond Area, Mill House Area with an ecological centre, Bidder's Area with its hilly grassland, the Golf Course, the Gunsite (named so because during World War Two it held anti-aircraft gun emplacements and temporary living accommodation) and Mill Green with its meadows and woodland. There are several roads running through the middle of the common which have a very country road feel to them.
