Description:
Kingston Guildhall is a curved, brick and stone building, which was designed in 1935 by Maurice Webb. One side faces the road, the other has a paved courtyard with shrubs. The Anglo-Saxon Coronation Stone can be viewed at the front of the Guildhall. Art Deco interior with original 1930s features preserved including decorative ironwork and light fittings. Council room with high barrel ceiling, marbled entrance hall and grand staircase with tall iron uplighters leading to an upper gallery and curved corridors,. Extension (Guildhall Two) was built in the 1970s and has an octagonal-shaped staircase rising four floors.
