Description:Harmony House is a spiritual, education and training centre for all religious beliefs. Its purpose-built block, designed by Sefre Architects, opened in 2001. Educational facilities include large multi-use split-level classrooms, an art and craft room and a large dining area extending to the courtyard. The architectural style has merged ancient Persian features, contemporary building techniques, with classical features and modern design. The courtyard with its fountain and surrounding columns is a typical piece of classical architecture. The great stone bulls that sit atop the columns, are similar to those found at the ancient palace of Persepolis. The chains that replace the more usual drainpipes can be found today across parts of Asia and the Middle East. Other features include wall-to-ceiling windows, coloured glass ramp balustrades in the dining room, warm, earthy shades of paint throughout the building. The circular form of the Sacred Space suggests a sense of openness and community. Light falls through the blue glass bricks on the curved wall and reflects from the mirrors in the roof scattering patterns across the floor.
