Fully restored opulent Edwardian music hall / variety theatre designed in 1901 by Frank Matcham, the Hackney Empire Theatre is one of the finest examples of his work. Reproduction of the original glass canopy outside. Three-tiered curved auditorium with boxes, cantilevered balcony and proscenium arch stage decorated with elaborate baroque plasterwork; foyer with marbled walls; twin-domed exterior.
