Description:
Richmond Theatre is a Grade II listed Victorian theatre designed in 1899 by Frank Matcham. It was refurbished in 1991. A beautifully preserved theatre providing a picturesque location, it seats 830 in a three-tiered curved auditorium with four boxes. Richly decorated in dark red velvet and gold, with a marbled staircase in the foyer and a period designed Ivy Room. The Frank Matcham decor includes gilded cherubs and angels, and original chandeliers in the auditorium and foyer. There are two turreted towers and two balconies on either side of the theatre and marble steps leading to the foyer and a mosaic pavement.
