Description:The Queen's Theatre is a 507-seat mid-scale producing theatre located in Hornchurch. Built in 1975, the theatre is a glorious example of the architecture of the '70s, with striking block design and large glass frontage. The auditorium is constructed in a design called a “continental rake” which makes it more like a bowl than a ramp shape. It feels surprisingly intimate, and there’s not a bad seat in the house, with all seats finished in red velvet. The stage can accommodate 120 performers. The gorgeous light-filled foyer wraps round the auditorium in a U-shape, with a double height ceiling and floor to ceiling windows. The theatre is a producing house with the following facilities; bar, cafe, two rehearsals rooms, one conference room, five dressing rooms, offices, costume store, furniture store, the workshop, fly tower and a warren of basement rooms and passages.
